Safety Tips for Your RV Generator

If you are looking to make your RV completely self-contained, then you are going to be definitely looking for an RV generator for sale. While looking for these generators you need to be aware that there are three common types and of these are: a generator that runs on gas, a propane generator, and a diesel generator.

If you buy a gas generator, you want to make sure that you fire it up on a regular basis because if it sits idle you could start having problems i.e. the carburetor might gum up on you.

It is pretty important to make sure that the generator that you are looking at buying is compatible with the fuel that your RV uses. Many people have a set up where the generator will shut itself down automatically if the fuel gets low so all of the reserve fuel isn’t used.

Since the generator gives off carbon monoxide, daily exhaust inspection is critical. If all you have is a portable wacker generator, and you’re using it for camping then you need to make sure that the exhaust is facing away from the area that you are camping in.

It is good to know that you can make use of your generator while you are traveling, and in fact it can be even more economical to run things like your air conditioning off of it instead of using your RV’s air conditioner.

You never ever want to run a generator while you were sleeping during the night as you never know what could happen and the possibility of carbon monoxide getting into your area is not worth the risk.

You can’t get a much more reliable power source for your RV than an RV generator, as with proper care they are well known to outlast the RVs themselves. If your generator sits for a while, it will run into surging problems and will eventually break down.
