Benefits Of Homeschooling? This Would Be My Viewpoint On This Question

Benefits of homeschooling

Firstly lets try to understand the reasons we would want Patty and Chris to learn at home versus going to public schools. Lets start off with some of the low hanging fruit or lower benefits but still very nice benefits, for instance you do not have to pack a lunch anymore for your child, you do not have to go into your childs room at six thirty in the morning and try to get them motivated to get dressed and get ready for school, you do not have to read off all the normal things you tell your child before you send them off to school.

Moving on to some of the more important benefits of homeschooling your children. Things that could possibly happen at a public school that would affect your children are a thing of the past when you choose homeschooling. One of the most important reasons in my mind is the fact that you now have total authority  of the development of your children. With this the parents are the only people that will be making decisions on what you believe your child needs to be taught or what you want your child to do, this becomes something where you have much more visibility. Being able to decide the homeschool curriculum that best fits your childrens learning needs and/or the interests of the child is probably one of the best benefits of homeschooling.

Today there is approx 20 children to 1 teacher in the class, this is a very high ratio when you compare to homeschooling. So i believe that one of the most important benefits of homschooling that your child will benefit from is the one on one attention. Lets just say that one of your children needs more work in english, well now you can adjust the time spent on english to whatever you like as there are no set hours for learning a subject like there is in public schools. What this does is take the pressure off of the child because you are able to just let your child put more hours into certain subjects that he/she might need more help with. Of course the time requirement to learn any subject will totally depend on the individual child.

The teaching of your children becomes like a family issue and everyone in the family can become involved with a lot of the steps of teaching and learning, and this is a beautiful thing. Another thing that you will really love about homeschooling your child is you get to take them on field trips where you will both learn and have a wonderful time, and you will be doing experiments with them, which can be very interesting, but all then this also equals you are spending much more “quality time” with you child and i believe that this also brings a family much closer.

Another one my biggest benefits of homeschooling is your children do not have to deal with any negative peer pressure that you find in most all our public schools today, and your child does not have to compete to prove the abilities that he/she has as the competition is very low when homeschooling and your childs confidence will remain high. One of the great things you see in a great teacher is someone who knows how to keep a childs interest and keeping them moving ahead, and because you know your child better than anyone you will be able plan your childs sessions to keep them interested and moving ahead. for instance you might have an hour of math with your child and then right afterwards you might go on a fieldtrip to a zoo or museum, so now the childs learning becomes much more fun.

When it comes to teaching all ages of children one of the very first thing a teacher needs to do is try to figure out the childs most comfortable learning style, as it differs from one child to the next, lets say Jane learns best by writing, and David learns best when he reads, and then still there is Tony who wants to see it action so he is a visual type learning style, everone has a style in which you learn faster. Another benefit of homeschooling that a lot of people like is you also get to teach your children what you believe both moraly and religously and the child will not be confused as some get in public schools because with you homeschooling your child there is no difference between what you are teaching your child and what is also being practiced in your home.

Before i end this article i would like to say that more and more parents today are becoming dis-satisfied with our public school programs. Some think that there children are not learning enough, or some that the child might be getting pushed way to hard. Other heavy issues that parents are worrying about are the ehtics and discipline that are being taught in public schools. I believe that homeschooling in the enviroment that we all live in today is the very best way to educate your child and prepare them for life, but this task that you are taking on requires comittment by both you and your child, but most importantl you must understand the actual time that you are going to have to put into your childs eduction homeschooling them, because it takes a lot of time, if you do not have the time that it requires to benefit your childs homescooling education, you should not attempt to as this only fails.
